Global Modular Courses

Wharton Global Modular Courses (GMCs) deliver global, experience-based learning to Wharton students in key business locations around the world.  Our courses are led on location by our world-class Wharton faculty, linking innovative ideas to new business phenomena, contextualized both in emerging markets and in developed economies.

Students take project-based courses on new, innovative business practices and mental models in select geographic locations best suited for experiential learning. The courses include classes and discussions led by Wharton faculty with expertise specific to both the new business models and to the geographic and market context.  Each year since 2010, twelve courses are offered globally on locations including:  Africa (Ghana, Rwanda), Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore China, Japan, India), the Middle East (Israel, UAE), Europe (UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia), and Latin America (Mexico, Argentina and Brazil).

GMCs expose students to a unique combination of local immersion, course concepts and cutting-edge business and social issues. The topics and locations give students first-hand exposure to business challenges and opportunities in regions undergoing rapid change by providing on-site company visits, meetings with prominent leaders working in the region, and interacting with students from host institutions as well as Wharton alumni.  Students work across degree programs within Wharton (undergraduates, full-time and executive MBA students) and also are exposed to faculty and students in the local context when available. These courses deliver new teaching material, access to live cases set in the geographic region, and are taught in a new, intensive learning format creating an extremely dynamic and exciting learning experience for all.
