On March 10, the University of Pennsylvania announced the opening of the Penn Wharton China Center in Beijing, China. The launch was marked with a series of weeklong events to kick off to the first 100 days of Center events.
More than 250 Penn faculty, alumni, friends and family, including a delegation of more than 40 faculty and senior administrators from Penn and Wharton, gathered to celebrate the official opening day, beginning with an open house and tours of the Center, followed by a welcome from Penn Provost Vincent Price, Vice Provost for Global Initiatives Ezekiel Emanuel and Wharton Dean Geoff Garrett.
“What does the future look like?” asked Provost Price in opening the day’s events. “It is a place where ideas and inquiry are not simply shared but are created together. … The future of knowledge is global.”
The day included panel discussions featuring senior Chinese business leaders and Penn scholars, and research presentations by Penn faculty from the Schools of Dental Medicine, Design, Engineering, Law and Perelman School of Medicine.
